Our answer
There’s no single winner, because the “best” depends on where you’re flying and what matters to you. But these airlines come up again and again among frequent flyers:
- Qatar Airways (Qsuite): private suites with doors, great service and food.
- Singapore Airlines: very wide seats and excellent service.
- ANA and Japan Airlines: great seats on many aircraft, and lovely Japanese food.
- Emirates: a big brand experience and excellent lounges in Dubai.
- Cathay Pacific: comfortable, private seats and great lounges in Hong Kong.
- Delta One Suites: one of the best US options, with a door on many long-haul aircraft.
- Air France and Virgin Atlantic: stylish cabins and good service to Europe.
Two tips. First, the same airline can have very different seats on different aircraft, so always check which plane flies your route. Second, the “best” seat isn’t much use if it adds a long connection. A good nonstop is often better than a great seat with a long layover.
Tell us your route and we’ll tell you honestly which option is best for you, not just the most expensive.
