Our answer
Sometimes, but it’s not something to count on.
Airlines know that people booking a few days before departure are often business travelers who have to go. So on many routes, business class prices go up close to departure, not down.
That said, last-minute deals do happen:
- On quieter routes or dates, an airline with empty business class seats may drop the price, or offer cheap upgrades at check-in.
- Private agency fares are sometimes still available close to departure when the airline website is showing very high prices.
- Flexible routing helps. If one hub is sold out or expensive, another may not be.
If you have to fly in the next week or two, don’t panic-buy the first price you see on the airline website. Get a quote from a specialist first. We regularly find last-minute business class seats well below the airline’s own price.
